I have no idea why, many months after it’s release, this still makes me laugh, clap like a special needs person and sing along with the chorus* (*well it would do if I dint have this verstinkener cold!)

From Cazwell, my favourite cute gay white trash rapper.

love etc

I am listening to the new pet shop boys single.

It is called Love etc.

This is my third listen. My thoughts so far are:

Listen # 1:

This is a co-write / co-production with Xenomania, the people behind all those Poppers-Ahoy Girls Aloud Campfests, so it should be great and very Poptastic. But it feels oddly limp, like someone just pushed a button on a Magix synth program, and left Neil to witter away over the top of it.

The “Don’t have to be…” bit is quite good, though, and definitely a chorus. But if Girls Aloud were doing it, this would be the bit where they ripped the kitchen sink off its fixtures and flung it in the mix.

Listen #2

Remember “I’m with Stupid?” Remember how OTT Hi NRG it was? Remember how it tanked? I’m thinking this is the anti-”Stupid”: just as catchy, but with a production that’s more ‘art-electro” than Trevor “Chuck the Coldstream Guards in a Blender” Horn. Which isn’t a bad thing, but just a little unnerving for a lead single. It’s as though psb have finally decided the singles market is secondary.

Mind you, the “Chorus” Lyrics are very psb/xenomania. It’s a bit “Love Comes Quickly,” really.

Listen #3

“Too much of anything is never enough.”

Is it my imagination or have the shouty “Don’t havta be” Chorus turned into the Loud?

“You need more you need more you need more” sounds so tedious, but is actually a great chant-y bit.

Musically, it’s all abit understated, but leaves you with a definite feeling of having consumed something quite enjoyable.

All-in-all, I am liking this very much and getting highly excited at the upcoming yes album (that is; the pet shop boys album called “yes,” and not the next project from the prog rockers featuring anderson and horn.)

On Monday nights at 9pm, BBC2 has been showing a new crime thing called Moses Jones.

I only watched because it features the guy who’s going to be the new doctor who.

It turns out to be actually brilliant. a top TOP notch cast. brilliant, violent storyline. gritty, real and yet a little surreal (in the way that only a look into the lives of people who exist, almost, in a different world to ones own - illegal immigrants, cash-in-hand duckers and divers, night dwellers - can be).

Last night was episode 2 of 3, so there’s no point in watching next weeks finale if you haven’t watched the first two. But the first episode may still be available here, if your quick.

But if it’s repeated - and with the 2000 bbc cable channels, it will be. Probably on BBC MosesJones the channel with 24 bour rolling Moses Jones, or something, watch it.

Really. It’s that good.
