christchurch

So, off to Christchurch. It’s got powerboating, punters, chess players, trams, and luxuriating in February sunshine in New Zealand.

The shopping was superb. We found a Rodd and Gunn with (As always) lovely lovely staff, who were so helpful (and told us that “My boyfriend is a pom and got his residency in two weeks”), sparking all sorts of fantasies of staying.We had a great Pizza in a restaurant called Viaduct: The house special with Roast chicken, mozzarella, brie, rosemary and cranberry sauce for a bargain $18.50!

True diet food. Not! And then, far too soon, it was off to Dunedin.

Waimangu. what can be said: Stunning scenery, lovely people, one quite fetching young Maori Warrior and a guide that inspired at least one of us to a couple of daydreams along the line of ‘Lost in the jungle’… I digress 8)

Ah… at long last, the start ofthe Long Awaited HoneyMoon ™.

Auckland: Not much to say, really. Hills like you would NOT believe. But what did you expect? We’re on volcanic tectonic plates. I once tried to serve Duck a L’Orange on Tectonic plates. People preferred the grey ones. I’m here all week; try the veal.
