weekend

Little late with the review, still….
One of my best weekends in a looooong time.

Lay on the sofa fri and watched a rerun of the Orympic opening ceremony. They get 3,000 perfectly choreographed drummers and Sarah Brightman on top of a fifteen story metal globe. We’ll probably get Amy Winehouse in a shopping trolley.

Sat, sorted out my clutter - mental and physical - and feel incredible for doing it.

Sat night, the all-male Mikado at the Union, bookended by too many beers at the Fire Station, and a train journey with a disproportionate amount of eye candy, and all wrapped up in another great night with one of my oldest (in so many senses of the word) friends, was magical.

Abed at 2am.

Sunday, a furious bout of house keeping - dusting hoovering, bleaching the bloodstains out of the carpet - left both D and I exhausted but the house feeling tidier than it has in ages, and our mental states vastly improved. I cooked, though not brilliantly, and Carl and Stu turned up with the lovely Ellie, who was charming and funny and only tried to rip my leg off once during the visit. The dog was lovely too.

A new computer was installed by My friend Ennis, whilst his other half and I swapped stories of long forgotten Stock Aitken and Waterman artistes (Oh how I wish I’d kept my Mandy Smith Promo).

Four bottles (and half of a fifth) of vin rouge were consumed, which is very surprising, as the general level of drunk didn’t seem too high. That said, after they’d left, I was abed, and fell asleep on top of Tintin. Rather, one suspects, like Captain Haddock…

A weekend where I realised, again, how truly blessed I am. I have brilliant friends, a great great life, and so much to be thankful for.

I am now, however, knackered. Roll on next weekend.
