mobsters
Thursday, January 18th, 2007So, the background: Before Christmas, my brother rings me. “I’m bidding on something on EBay, and the auction closes in fifteen minutes, but I’m stuck in traffic. Can you log on and make sure I won. Bid up if needed,” and he gave me the maximum bid he was willing to go to. We won the auction (hooray) and that was that.
Cut to yesterday, when I suddenly realised that I hadn’t left feedback on the seller’s EBay account. Those of you familiar with EBay will know that that’s a real no-no.
So I Email my bro. “Did the EBay book arrive yet? Let me know so I can go and leave feedback so they don’t get the EBay Mafia on to me (they don’t send you a dead canary; just a HTML link to a page where you can bid on a dead canary).”
I’m now living in fear that the Cosa Nostra will put a hit out on me. Of course, the contract is sure to go to the highest bidder, which is nice to know. Wonder if there’s a reserve set?
