update re Ruth Kelly’s ministerial portfolio
From today’s Guardian: “The education secretary, Alan Johnson, today confirmed reports that the Catholic church has lost its battle for special treatment over gay adoption rules.”
There’s a much bigger post* in me on the whole topic of allowing “The Gays” to adopt, but it’s not coming out yet, ‘cos it’s not quite ready 
However, how nice to see reason prevail.

Isn’t that a bit like making Ayatollah Ali Sistani the minister in charge of licensing pubs and distilleries] - … were said to be sympathetic to the concerns of the Catholic church. No shit. A woman who’s a member of a Catholic Sect that, along with the larger club run by Benny the Nazi, views homosexuality as “A sin and a source of evil,” isn’t keen on letting the evil sinners lose on Kids. What. The. Fuck?
From The education secretary, Alan Johnson: “The primary concern, of course, has to be the children concerned in the adoption process and I very much hope the Catholic church does continue to provide the important service that they do.
“But if they don’t, I think we can ensure that children are not disadvantaged by that.
“And I cannot see a case for introducing legislation that protects gays and lesbians from discrimination on grounds of their sexual orientation and then allowing in terms, as part of public policy, that discrimination to continue.” Abso-fucking-lutely. If the Catholic Church - or any other bunch of God Bothering hatemongers - want to take their toys home and not play any more because they’ve been told that, to paraphrase the words of a certain Mr J. Christ, late of Galillee, “Whatsoever you do unto the least of my bretheren, you do unto the whole of society,” let them. Let them just fuck off. Hmmm… Two loving Gay Dads, or an Industrial School? What shall it be? A couple of supportive lesbian Mums or a Magdalene Laundry? Hypocrites. Pharisees. Cunts,t he lot of them. Can you tell I’m angry?
Liberal Democrat MP Evan Harris (Oxford West and Abingdon), a member of the National Secular Society, told Today: “In my view, if people want to provide services, or engage in welfare work using state money, or under a system coordinated by the state, they have to accept they can’t discriminate.”
Dr Harris added that, at the same time, such people should not “proselytise” either. Can I get an “AMEN?”
Whilst, as usual, Julian Brazier, the Conservative co-chairman of the all-party parliamentary group on adoption and fostering, said there was not enough evidence to say definitively whether children fared as well with gay parents.
But he added: “Children thrive best when they live with a married couple.”
So, nice to see that we can depend on the Conservatives to keep to the ‘All-inclusive, new Tory Party Line,’ then. Or did they just accidentally show their true colours with that statement? Ah, I have it: On election, the conservatives will ensure that all children with two same-sex parents can enjoy the benefits of living with “a married couple,” by upgrading the ‘Civil Partnership’ status to one of full wedlock, complete with the Tax Breaks and legal benefits.
Of course. Silly me. And there was I thinking they were just being another bunch of nasty, vicious hate-blinded ignorant motherfuckers.
Still, yay for common sense.
