how’s your coddle?

So, my father informs me, in very certain terms, that a Dublin Bay Coddle is most definitely not peasant food. My statement to that effect, it’s intimated, shows (a) just how little I know about poverty, and (b) how smug, complacent, and, possibly classist I am.
“How many peasants,” says he, “Could afford to buy this much meat for an ordinary evening meal?”
