Two months of married bliss. love you more now than ever.

And have things changed? You bet: D is more sociable than ever. I’ve married a socialite. He’s married a socialist. Oh My God, we’re Warren and Diane in Reds…

 He walked into my life
And now he’s taking over*
And it’s beautiful
Yes it’s beautiful

I’ve gone with better looking guys
He’s gone with prettier looking girls guys too
But now we’re beautiful
I think we’re beautiful

I don’t need love affairs anymore
I don’t need love affairs anymore
Can’t you see, it’s the chemistry
You really must agree together we are beautiful
We are so beautiful

I am the rain, he is the sun
And now we’ve made a rainbow
I think it’s beautiful
It’s really beautiful
I don’t need love affairs anymore
I don’t need love affairs anymore
Can’t you see, it’s the chemistry
You really must agree together we are beautiful
We are beautiful

And if the whole world fell in love
Just like me and my man
This would be beautiful
This would be so beautiful
I don’t need love affairs anymore
No I don’t need love affairs anymore
Can’t you see, oh it’s the chemistry
And together we are beautiful
We are beautiful
Can’t you see, it’s the chemistry
You really must agree together we are beautiful
We are beautiful
Beautiful
We are beautiful

 * although, of course, I do retain my independance. As well as my own bank account. Although since we now have joint property, I guess that technically, what’s mine is his. However, since he doesn’t know about the accounts in the Cayman Islands…

Edit: The verses aren’t mine. They’re from the Fern Kinney track ‘Together we are beautiful’ , and we love them so much we put them on the wedding cd that went to guests on the day.

mea culpa

Out last night to celebrate his birthday. A mexican restaurant (no, really, a Mexican restaurant - not the usual Tex Mex deep fired chimichanga shit). Six (or possibly seven) Margaritas (or is that Margaritae?), a bottle of Mexican Beer, and a half glass of mineral water (well, you’ve got to keep hydrated, haven’t you). A pleasure to finally meet him, whose glittery blog was another of my inspirations. One day, I make pretty pictures here too…

A brilliant grouping of fabulous friends of Dorothy, and the honorable Queen of One Legged Interpretive Dancing, a fabulous evening, and texts this morning saying ‘You were really funny.’

Which is odd, because I don’t remember being particularly sparkly (I rarely am on Wednesday nights). That, of course, can mean only one thing: For ‘Really’, read ‘Totally’, and for ‘Funny,’ read ‘Wasted’.

Sorry.

credo

Hmmmm. Not sure if this works. It’s an early draft, and actually feels (a) like several different pieces all sutured together (the shifting meters and the switches from cutesy rhymes to serious  and off to gags at the end) (b) a little hallmarky in places (see the aforementioned cutesy rhymes and gags). But it is heartfelt.

I didn’t write yesterday because I had nothing I felt I could share. This year 9/11’s been hard. I’ll explain some other time. But for now, from out of all the grimness and the sadness, some things I really do believe in: This…

Hope is never cheap;

It costs a lot from out your stock

Of Misery.

(Despair,

is everywhere:

You can afford

to lose

a little.)

Love is never free:

To get it, you must throw away

A nugget of the hate

You hold

And free your soul

To soar.

For Love

is worth

Its weightlessness

In gold.

Peace, whilst it’s expensive

Is worth the fee: Its benefits

Are really quite extensive.

You’re wrinkle-free,*

With shiny hair*

Bright toned-up skin*

And less despair.

*(You’re not, but you don’t really care,)

For Peace can be its own reward.

With Peace Hope Love no need to hoard.

And just one spark

Bright in the Dark

A single match,

If it should catch,

Can set the universe aflame.
